Lab testing is an important component of our practice, as it gives us the information we need to create the most effective, individualized plan for each patient. These are the tests we offer:
Adrenal Testing
Adrenal fatigue is a common and serious disorder that can effect our daily lives. The adrenal glands are two small glands located near our kidneys, and are responsible for producing and releasing our stress hormones. In times of chronic stress (which can be mental, emotional or physical in nature), our adrenals can become over-taxed, therefore leading to fatigue, weight gain or weight loss resistance, hormonal imbalances and other symptoms. Adrenal testing allows us to see our cortisol output throughout the day, and correct imbalances via diet and supplementation.
Hormonal Testing
Attempting to lose weight when a hormonal imbalance is present is an uphill battle. Hormonal testing closely examines levels of progesterone, estrogen and testosterone, therefore allowing us to detect a relationship between hormonal imbalances and present symptoms. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), for example, is a condition in which women’s hormonal levels are out of balance, and can lead to weight gain, irregular periods, infertility and other serious health problems.
Nutritional Testing
Nutritional testing by Genova Labs offers a personalized assessment of nutritional deficiencies, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and more. Common symptoms that can result from deficiencies can include mood disorders, fibromyalgia, fatigue and weight gain. Nutritional testing includes a thorough metabolic analysis profile, amino acid analysis, and biomarkers for oxidative stress. This information is collected by one morning urine sample.
Intestinal Parasites
Also through Genova Labs, a comprehensive parasitology profile is often a key missing piece of the wellness puzzle. This at home stool test examines levels of beneficial gut flora vs. imbalanced flora, pathogenic bacterias and yeast overgrowth. Unfortunately, GI infections commonly go undetected, as their symptoms are often not GI-related, and might manifest instead as reactive arthritis, chronic fatigue, or asthma. Parasitic and bacterial GI infections are not just contracted abroad, but right here at home.
ALCAT Food Sensitivity Testing
ALCAT testing offers an in depth analysis of food and chemical reactions, and is an excellent method of determining which foods and other substances could be triggering inflammation and related symptoms. Food sensitivity testing ensures that we are creating the best possible dietary plan for your body.
